One Day or Day One - You decide

I understand the struggle of wanting to change your lifestyle and become more active. That is why this guide aims to provide you with a workout guide that will help you to achive your goals by creating habits in a pace that suits you.  The mission is to help you build a strong foundation, make you feel confident in the gym and create lasting habits that will lead to a healthier and more active lifestyle.

In 2020, I found myself at my all-time high weight, feeling out of shape and at a crossroads. It was a choice between "One day" or "Day one," and I chose the latter.

My earlier attempts in 2017 and 2019 had failed due to the overwhelming nature of drastic changes. I hadn't seen enough success to stay motivated. Something needed to change. The turning point came a few days before 2021, I put alot of time into reflection on my failures and what I needed to change to become succesful.

I realized I have over the years been caught up in the noise of social media and external pressures. To break free, I decided to focus solely on successfully completing a plan, regardless of the numbers on the scale or the immediate results on my body. It was about creating a new habit and to begin a transformation journey.

Structuring a 6-month plan with three phases of 8 weeks each became my roadmap. The first phase, a full-body routine with basic exercises, served as my initiation into the gym. It allowed me to get familiar with the gym, the machines and the exercises to become more confident in the gym. I always knew what to do and in which order. Over time when becoming more confident I started to perform variations of the sets and played around a bit.

My main strategy during those months was simple: "Just show up and do the first set." I planned each week where I worked out monday, wednesday and friday, providing a buffer in the weekend if I would miss one durng the weekdays. The key to my success, I believe, was shifting my focus from immediate results to implementing new habits and consistently showing up.

Reflecting on these six months, I not only made progress in my body but also experienced a significant shift in my mindset. I evolved from chasing results to focusing on the habits that would bring those results. Small changes over time made the journey manageable and sustainable.

My advice to anyone starting their fitness journey is to keep it simple and show up. Don't fixate on the results; shift your focus to creating habits. Stop thinking "one day" and start thinking "today is Day One." Begin that first habit today, and the results will follow.
